Spooky Halloween Housing Justice Canvass!

Join C4C Action for a Spooky Halloween Housing Justice Canvass where we'll talk to voters about 3 critical housing justice ballot measures sponsored by Councilmember Carroll Fife that, if passed, would make a huge impact on the homelessness and housing affordability crisis:

  • Measure V would expand Just Cause eviction protections to prevent Oakland residents from losing their homes
  • Measure Q, would exempt Oakland from Article 34, a racist statewide law that was passed almost a hundred years ago, that bans the construction of low-income, deeply affordable housing unless neighborhoods vote to allow it by a 2/3 vote. Article 34 was intended to keep neighborhoods segregated and prevent Black people from accessing quality housing. Measure Q would get Oakland out from under this racist law and would authorize the construction of up to 13,000 deeply affordable low-income housing units in the City.
  • Measure U is an infrastructure bond that would actually fund building that affordable housing that Measure Q would legalize. Basically, we need Measure Q to make it legal to build affordable housing, and we need Measure U to provide the funds to actually build it.
