Get Out the Vote with C4C Action

There’s an election coming up on June 2nd, and we’re on a mission to help people get out and vote! Primary elections in Oakland typically only turn out about 30% of voters. There's some big decisions on this ballot. We want to make sure as many voters as possible participate in making those decisions.

These are citywide canvasses. We’ll travel to every corner of Oakland between now and election day, not just our home turf in District 3. Door knocking is a great way to get to know Oakland better.

Because of a recent USPS change, ballots dropped in the mail on Election Day are less likely to get a same-day postmark. USPS now often applies the postmark when the ballot is processed at a mail facility, not necessarily when you drop it in a mailbox. That means a ballot mailed on Election Day could get a next-day postmark and be rejected, even if the voter technically mailed it on time. To make sure every vote counts, we’ll be reminding voters to:

  • Mail in ballots at least a week before election day - by May 27th
  • Use an official ballot drop box
  • Return ballots to an in-person voting center

We’re also asking voters to support Measure E, which will replace an expiring property tax to keep our fire stations open and protect our emergency response systems, including 9-11.
