"Encampment Abatement Policy" Public Comment Training

C4C Action, Wood Street Commons & the Black Solutions Lab are hosting a training to inform community members are CM Houston's proposed legislation, the "Encampment Abatement Policy." This legislation will be coming to a special Public Safety Committee meeting on September 10th at 11am.

Our training will take place on zoom, Wednesday, September 3rd at 6:30pm.

What to expect at this training:

  1. You’ll gain a clear understanding of why this legislation is being proposed and what it would concretely do.
  2. Organizers with lived experience of homelessness will explain what this policy would do and how it would affect people currently living on the streets.
  3. We will demystify the process of passing legislation at the City level, and you will leave empowered to meaningfully participate in that process.
  4. We will hold space for everyone to practice making public comments and get feedback from a diverse group of community members.
  5. You’ll leave the training empowered and prepared to advocate effectively at upcoming public meetings about this proposed policy.

Once we receive your RSVP: C4C Action will follow up with you by email with the zoom link for the training and text to support you in giving public comment on the 10th!
